Bob Kendall

Director

Meet Bob Kendall, Director

Bob Kendall, a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society since 1997, became the director of the Chordlighter Chorus in September of 2013.

Before joining the Chordlighters, Bob began his barbershop career, while he was a student at Indiana State University, by answering a newspaper ad looking for "men who like to sing harmony." That led him to the Banks of the Wabash Chorus (BOW) in Terre Haute, IN, where he spent his first 15 years learning the art of barbershop and singing in some of his first quartets like, The New Statesmen, Backstage Johnny, The Connection, and The Arrangement (2006 CAR Champions).

Bob graduated from Indiana State in 1995 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and continued to drive to Terre Haute every Tuesday night to sing with the BOW where he was an active member of the Music Team, a choreographer, and even the occasional director.

He eventually became a member of the Circle City Sound Chorus in Indianapolis, IN. That led him to his next quartets, Replay (2012 CAR Champions) and Late Shift (2014 CAR Champions). A good friend, Phil Griggs mentioned one night that The Columbus-Greenwood Chapter was looking for a Director, so Bob and Phil made a visit to a Columbus-Greenwood chapter rehearsal, and Bob accepted the position shortly thereafter.

Bob has been active in the Cardinal District as a chorus and quartet coach, an instructor at the Cardinal District Quartet Boot Camp, and as a three-year President of the Quartet Champions Association.

Bob is also very active in the Bring the Payne (BTP) Campout, held each year at Paynetown State SRA on Monroe Reservoir.

Bob is married to his beautiful wife Lisa. They have two, wonderful children, Jackson and Madison, who attend Trine University and The University of Indianapolis, respectively.

As you may have guessed, The Chordlighter Chorus is always looking for "men who like to sing harmony." There's no experience required.

We'll teach you for free. Come give it a try!
